Brother Robert Lynch To Give a Presentation

On June 10, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall, our Division will host a presentation on The History of Irish Music given by none other than our own Robert Lynch.  This is the same presentation that Brother Bob gave at Molloy College a month ago.

It was very well attended and we are fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity. This event will be open to the public and we are going to publicize it locally and regionally.

Brother Jim McCabe Up For National Lifetime Membership

Division 8 would like to wish Brother Jim McCabe luck as he is up for National Lifetime Membership in the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Jim has passed through the division, county and state and now his application is in front of the National Board.

A brother for 57 years, Jim has served this organization and division in many facets, remaining active in almost all activities.

So good luck Jim, as the National Board will have a very tough decision on its hands come July.

The National Hibernian Digest is Now Online

The National Hibernian Digest, the official newspaper of the Ancient Order of Hibernians now has an online edition, which will feature an archive of past issues.

According to editor Keith Carney, the site will also include expanded news and features not appearing in the newspaper.

The site is HibernianDigest.com, which was designed by Nassau County Webmaster and Division 8 Vice President Joe McDonald, who was named Online Editor of the paper.

So please stop by the Digest website and we ask for all divisions to add the link to the Digest site to its respective websites.

The 2010 Seafood Raffle

Division 8 will host its annual Independence Day Seafood Raffle on Jun. 28, 2009.

Tickets, going for $5 a piece, are on sale now.

The Raffle will be drawn on June 27^th and the proceeds will benefit the charities of Division 8.  In the past, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 8 charities have ranged from the Wounded Warrior project which supports our troops who have been wounded oversees and the St. Vincent De Paul Society that provides assistance to those families and individuals in great need of basic resources to live.
